S20 Special Webinar on Women in Science
The gender composition of scientific, technical, engineering, and mathematical fields varies a great deal across time and space. This variability follows some surprising patterns, with stronger gender segregation of some STEM fields in affluent North American and European countries than in poorer and reputably more gender-traditional societies.
COVID-19 has put a spotlight on researchers who also have carer responsibilities. We are hopeful that this moment will force us all to change the institutional culture that stigmatizes carers. Not surprisingly, almost 80% of those scholars are women.
A panel of distinguished speakers representing different STEM disciplines will discuss implementation strategies, best practices for retaining women in STEM and ways to scale up and disseminate promising practices.
